What happens when you start tie dying t-shirts in your backyard for your mates? You blink now the whole of Australia is wearing your designs?
First, a quick history of VOT —when/where/why/how it started, where you’re currently based, etc. And clear this one up for me: And who the heck tie-dyes all your shirts?
Me and Macloed were both based on the south coast when we started Vot around 2 years ago we now liveon the northern beaches of Sydney. I think we both found most of the south coast’s youth would trek it up to the closest GP and buy what they could to wear out that weekend, there wasn’t a huge range that we enjoyed so we decided to make our own. Pretty much went from making clothes for our selves to friends to having the market we have today! I tie dye most of the shirts p.s I hate it stop buying tie dye haha
How would you describe Vot as a clothing label?
I think Vot. as a label is a pretty tight community.
The new collection Anti Paradise is vibrant with colours and throw backs the 80`s, what was the inspiration and what artists did you collaborate with on this range.
I just think we needed to mix it up for a bigger audience and add a bit of colour in there for summer, The next range is completely different again! We did one collab in Anti-paradise with the talented Martina her graphic design is well above her years!!
Do you guys design the art for VOT ?
We have designed everything except the collab we did with Martina as mentioned before her stuff is amazing! (Check her stuff here)
Pros & Cons of running a label?
Pro’s and cons. Not going to lie we did lose a lot of friends but I think it’s good they obviously weren’t great friends… I love my job it’s great and I have met a lot of rad young people doing something out there and different it’s sick, everyone’s just doing their thing and killing it.
How did the collaboration with Mimi shooting the campaign come about?
Mimi is my little homie and my room mate. She really liked the new range so she asked me if she could shoot it on film her photos are the best couldn’t of asked for anything better, if you havnt seen them definitely worth a look.
On a world stage some of the biggest artists and producers are playing to 20 000+ people and wearing your stuff that must feel pretty good? How fars your reach now from when you started out?
Yeah I think it’s so sick when I see big artist’s wearing our stuff it makes me so happy especially when I’m there kicking it having a few beers!
What’s your favorite design from the new collection.
My favourite would have to be the Miami Long sleeve only because I like my love sleeve tees.

I would not have a clue, just keep doing our thing I guess!
